Google’s Continuing Updates: Focus on Customers, Not Technology
As SpamBrain evolves, low-value automated content and doorway pages face increasing scrutiny. We examine the update cycle and the value of customer-focused original content.

I am Sangwon Jeong, founder of 247COMPASS.
Digital marketing and search are changing at a remarkable pace. From 2025 through June 2026, Google released successive core and spam updates that reshaped the search ecosystem.
These changes have prompted claims that traditional SEO is finished and fears that businesses must immediately adopt GEO or AEO to avoid falling behind. Many marketers and leaders are understandably tired of the uncertainty.
Such labels often describe fragments of a broader effort to improve search quality. Here I review the update cycle over the previous eighteen months and share what businesses should focus on: the substance of their content.

2. Assessing the Recent Updates#
The interaction between the May 2026 core update and June spam update deserves particular attention. The article interprets the combination as more precise filtering of search quality.
1) May 2026 Core Update: A Healthier Market Structure#
The update took place as Google expanded AI Overviews, sending a clear message to the market.
- Less value for interchangeable compilations: Pages that merely aggregate other sources and polish the result with AI, or low-value affiliate pages, reportedly saw impressions adjust by around 20–25%. Original content with proprietary data, practical experience and a distinctive point of view gained recognition.
- A changing exposure structure: Low-intent factual queries increasingly receive answers within search results, naturally reducing some organic exposure. This can also be interpreted as a shift towards bringing genuinely engaged researchers to business websites.
2) June Spam Update: Protecting the User Experience#
The quickly deployed update applied clearer standards to abnormal traffic-generation tactics.
- Scaled content abuse: As SpamBrain developed, pages produced at scale without value and doorway pages differing only in keywords or place names faced action.
- User experience: The article highlights copied content and technical interference, such as manipulation of the back button, rather than focusing exclusively on link spam or abuse of large-domain reputation.
3. Move Beyond Anxiety and Address Customer Context#
The reason for search-system improvement remains straightforward: provide the most useful, trustworthy answer to the person searching.
New environments bring terminology and predictions of crisis. Yet content that genuinely resolves the customer’s problem remains more valuable than mechanical optimisation formulas.
Keyword insertion and formulaic mass production become harder to sustain as automated detection develops. Instead of following unclear technology trends, ask: “What do our customers need now?” Then address that context directly.
Build proprietary practical data, interviews that capture real experience and original, rigorous analysis that competitors cannot easily reproduce. Technology trends change; the value of authentic content endures. 247COMPASS will continue to support sustainable growth through that enduring substance.
